NHTSA to require backup cameras on all vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a regulation Monday requiring all vehicles, including new trucks and buses, to have rear-view visibility -- in effect, requiring backup cameras.
The rule applies to all vehicles with a gross weight rating up to 10,000 pounds -- from the smallest subcompact to commercial vans. It begins phasing in with 2016 models and takes full effect in May 2018.
The rule follows an outcry from consumer groups and families that have been touched by tragedies involving back-over accidents, especially those involving children in parking lots. They had been pushing hard against delays in implementing tougher standards. NHTSA says it has been listening.
Under the new rule, all vehicles will have to come equipped with the ability for the driver to see a 10-foot by 20-foot zone directly behind the vehicle. There are also requirements involving image size and other factors that pretty much ensure that rear-view cameras are the only solution that will work.
In a 2010 report, the DOT's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that each year 228 people die in light-vehicle backup incidents, with about 44% of them kids under age 5. The second most vulnerable group: adults over age 70.
Congress passed a law in 2007 act ordering the Transportation Department to have a rule in place by 2011 to require cameras or other backup warning devices on all new cars and light trucks. Until Monday, there have been multiple delays.
To try to break through, a coalition of car-safety advocates and parents sued the Obama administration in September. Two parents who accidentally backed their cars over their kids were the lead plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals in New York.
Despite the delay, some automakers are getting ahead of the ruling by putting cameras on all their new models. Many offer cameras as standard or optional equipment even on their smallest, most economical cars.

Malaysian Flight 370, The search ended.......

Every time i get on a plane, i can't help but wonder how safe planes are, or what will be my reaction if this plane has to land in the middle of nowhere. I am sure that almost everyone has this thought in the back of his head, even if you can't admit it to yourself.

I have read so much about planes safety, and how planes are more safe than trains and cars, but as person, i know that i can only walk, and not fly!

The Malaysian flight 370, which left Kuala on the 8th of March 2014 to Beijing, with 12 crew members and 227 passengers from 15 different nationalities has been the story everyone is waiting to see its end.
The flight which was suppose the land after 5 hours and 55 minutes, never landed......

Since the 8th of March, the world has been waiting, and hoping for a better ending than the one announced today! Unfortunately after all the searches, false hopes, desperate moments and endless grief, Today the Prime Minister of Malaysia announce that the Missing flight ended in the Indian Ocean with no survivors...

A human tragedy by all means... In those times i can't but Pray for the victims, their families and their lives lost in the deep ocean.

GM's Barra says she'll likely testify before Congress

GM's Barra says she'll likely testify before Congress; internal inquiry could last months

DETROIT -- General Motors CEO Mary Barra said today that she's likely to testify personally before congressional committees looking into GM's handling of an ignition-switch problem that has been linked to 12 deaths, and said the company's own investigation could take a few months.

In a meeting with journalists today, Barra again apologized for GM's handling of the problem, which triggered a recall last month, and vowed better vigilance on safety to prevent future defects from going unfixed. GM has acknowledged that some engineers knew about the ignition problem for more than a decade before the recall, which has grown to include 1.37 million U.S. cars, spanning model years 2003 to 2007.
"Our goal is to make sure that something like this never happens again," Barra said in her first public comments since the recall was announced Feb. 13.

My Relationship with my car :)

Ladies, don't get mat at me for writing this article, but it is all true, and you know it. When it comes to order and clean spaces men and women disagree on almost everything! Women can be so annoying when it comes to cleaning homes and putting everything in the right place with the right angel! men, they don't care most of the time, as long as the couch in front of the TV is empty, the TV remote has batteries and cold beer is in the fridge, it is all good!
Women, totally different story, the whole house has to be clean and tidy.. everything has to smell nice, all her favorite corners has to look perfect, with the matching candles, matching cushions, the new photo frame she just got, and the guest bathroom towels...... every single item in the house has its own place! But......
Have you ever wondered why Men treat their car better than their closet and women treat their car like a garbage can?

Being in the car industry, car appreciation has grown more and more everyday, obviously, being the car Lover that i am, and getting to drive all kind of nice cars, including exotic cars, taking care of my leather seats is just a given fact!
We usually get a lot of trade ins at the dealership, and from one look at a car, i can instantly know who was driving that car! Women cars like just incredibly.. hmmm what's the word for it, crowded? busy? more like a shopping mall?
And i am not even talking about women who have kids, because i know you can't control your kids from the back seat and drive in the same time but ladies please, try treating your car like you treat your home.. after all, if you live in California, Cars are most likely to be a second home for you.... Don't turn your truck into a closet! and your back seat into a changing room / Study room and your front seat into a dinning room / Makeup and hair Salon! Please, cars are as precious as your shoes and cloth! ladies, have mercy on cars :)

New Jersey bars Tesla from selling without dealers!!!

"This is an issue that affects not just Tesla customers, but also New Jersey citizens at large, because Tesla would be unable to create new jobs or participate in New Jersey's economic revival," Tesla wrote on its blog today.

Tesla Motors, which has been fighting state-by-state to be able to sell its electric cars directly to the public, just lost big in New Jersey.
The state today decided to approve a new regulation that require all new car dealers to obtain a franchise agreement in order to receive a state license, the Associated Press is reporting. In essence, it's saying that you can't buy a new car without a middleman in the state. Tesla had two dealer license issued to it.

Tesla has been fighting to sell its cars using its direct-sales model in the other states as well, such as Texas, where it lost. In New Jersey, the California-based company says it thought it had an agreement with Gov. Chris Christie's administration.

Tesla Motors, Inc. Is an American company that designs, manufactures and sells electric cars and electric vehicle power train components. Tesla Motors is a public company that trades on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol TSLA. After 10 years, Tesla posted profits for the first time during the first quarter of 2013.
Tesla Motors first gained widespread attention by producing the Tesla Roadster, the first fully electric sports car. The company's second vehicle was the Model S, a fully electric luxury sedan.

Tesla also markets electric power train components, including lithium-ion battery packs, to automakers, including Daimler and Toyota. Tesla's CEO, Elon Musk, has said he envisions Tesla as an independent automaker, aimed at eventually offering electric cars at a price affordable to the average consumer.

7 Tips to have a Growing & Successful Business

Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it's amazing what they can accomplish.
Sam Walton

Being a member of the Saint George Auto Sales team, watching everyday our business grow and get enriched by new people, new clients and bigger hopes and dreams, i have picked up some tips which might be useful for some of you running a business, or even working with a team!

1. Have a plan: often business owner get caught in the day-to-day operation and just trying to get through the day with its ups and downs... But having a plan is much smarter, look ahead, look around you and plan a path for your business!

2. Take Actions: Writing a plan on draft isn't just enough yet, have a weekly meeting with your team, check the progress of your goals and asses them... assign tasks and deadlines to all of your team managers and make sure you get a weekly meeting with them just to talk about that!

3. Time to go social!: no matter what business are you in, Social media and networking has become one of the Must-Have of our times! let's not underestimate the power of people... one way marketing is almost in the dark now... it is now time for interactive 2 ways marketing tools! communicate to your target audience, get a brand personality and character!

4. D.E.L.E.G.A.T.E: I understand you are a business owner, fully attached to your business and investments but if you want to grow, you have to let your team grow too! you can't be in 4 places at once! Trust your team, delegate and let them report results... Adjust or give further instructions afterwards... It will give them more sense of possibility and it will give you more space in your head to think of ways to grow your business.

5.Invest and Upgrade:  No matter how big you grow, no matter how unexpected you become, never stop investing in your own place! never stop looking for upgrades, upgrading your location, equipment, even in knowledge, invest in your team.. the more you invest the more you get in returns!

6. Be a Real Family: We hear a lot of people saying, yeah our colleagues are like family, but are they truly? It is all up to you! The atmosphere you create around your team is the one they are going to stick to! creating a real family at work is one of the hardest things a manager can actually achieve specially among sales teams! Celebrate your team birthdays, new baby born, be there for them when they need you... as they say, in sickness and in health, till resignation do us apart!

7. Celebrate your success: and don't cry over your failures! No matter how busy we get, always find the time to celebrate with your team! New targets, new openings, new beginnings, new achievements and New Challenges!!! Celebrate like a true family! Go out have a fun night out! it will change your world....

Last but not least i would like to share this quote for you to share it with your teams!
Remind them everyday that the success of only of them means the success of everyone else in the team!

Winning teams have the least amount of distractions. They have a really tight group of people working towards the same common goal.Larry Dixon

Maserati Alfieri!

Maserati did it again! It's called the Alfieri, and we've been anticipating its unveiling since photos and rumors started leaking about the new car!

Opening "a door to the future of Maserati", the Alfieri is, for the time being, a concept car. It takes the form of a slick 2+2 that's "sportier in character than the GranTurismo," which itself was always more of a boulevard cruiser than an all-out performance machine... even in MC Stradale guise. Its wheelbase is 9.5 inches shorter than the GranTurismo, but packs the same 4.7-liter naturally-aspirated V8 (not one of the newer turbocharged units) driving 460 horsepower through a six-speed sequential gearbox kept in check by carbon-ceramic rotors with Brembo calipers.

Inspiration for the design penned (or at least supervised) by Lorenzo Ramaciotti – who was responsible for designing the Quattroporte and Birdcage

The Alfieri was drawn from the classic 1954 Maserati A6 GCS-53 but updated with some clearly modern accents like bi-xenon/LED headlamps, 21-inch wheels and liquid-metal finish. Modernity caries through to the minimalistic cabin with its TFT central and instrument displays. Poltrona Frau provided the aniline leather, offset by copper-tone billet aluminum trim.

The word Alfieri, is Italian, and it means the "ensign" in the old army, was the horse rider who carried the flag.

The 2014 #Oscars

I think very few have actually missed last night Oscars! The night was just perfect starting of with the Host who was Ellen DeGeneres, and all of the other details which was included in a spectacular 3 hours show!
I think one of the funniest parts is when Ellen actually asked who wanted pizza and ordered some for everyone! That was just Original....

Ever wondered if they should have Oscars for cars? like Best new Model or Best new Make... Best vintage car... best performance car... things like that....

Car industry is very exciting and rich, of course not as rich and exciting as the actual Oscars, but i think it should have its own award red carpet show :)

Cheers! and hope you enjoyed the show!
