The GT3

Bentley has announced a new Continental GT model inspired by the company's GT3 race car that promises to be the fastest Bentley ever produced. To no surprise, the production version GT3 looks pretty much identical to the concept that previewed it, but it features a more aggressive aerodynamic package that helps maximize downforce and optimize the coefficient drag. The Continental GT3-R, a two-door coupe was developed as a road-legal version of the Bentley Continental GT3 race car that recently claimed victory at

the Blancpain Endurance Series at Silverstone. Bentley will produce just 300 examples of the GT3-R. The package includes a top-mounted carbon-fiber rear wing and a carbon-fiber splitter that improves the car’s downforce and stability. In order to improve the engine cooling and the optimize the drag coefficient, Bentley also updated the bonnet, bumpers, fenders and sills. The Continental GT3-R ditches its rear-seat which, along with other weight-saving measures, carves about 220 pounds from the Grant Tourer's waistline. Those performance upgrades result in the Continental GT3-R can accelerate from 0-60 in just 3.6 seconds.

However, shorter gearing limits the GT3-R to a top speed of 170mph. On the inside, the new GT3 racecar removed all the luxury features, like the leather and the wood trim, the production electrical systems and advanced refinement materials. This way the car’s total weight was kept under 2,866 pounds. Under the hood, the new Continental GT3 racer receives a 4.0-liter V-8 engine that delivers a total of 600 horsepower in race specification. The engine sends its power to the rear wheels via an Xtrac six-speed sequential transaxle gearbox with racing clutch. All 300 examples of the Continental GT3-R will be finished in Glacier

White paint with green accents. Bentley hasn't announced pricing for the Continental GT3-R, but deliveries   are scheduled to begin later this year.
